Gary Lee McDonald, born on October 9, 1948, in DeRidder, Louisiana, passed away on February 4, 2025, at St. Luke's in Lufkin. He was the beloved son of the late John Wayne McDonald, Sr., and Johnny Grantham Mc Donald. Gary spent his career as a dedicated hunting and fishing guide around Toledo Bend Lake, where he shared his passion for the outdoors with countless others. He cherished the friendships he formed during his years guiding and found immense joy in the time he spent hunting and fishing.

Above all else, Gary loved his family deeply. He treasured moments spent with his grandchildren and found great comfort in the companionship of his dogs. His warmth and kindness left a lasting impression on all who knew him.

Gary is survived by his devoted wife, Cheri McDonald of Zavalla; his son, Casey McDonald and wife Jessica of Iowa, Louisiana; his brother, John Wayne McDonald, Jr. and wife Jean of Greenwood, Louisiana; and his cherished grandchildren, Emily McDonald, Cole McDonald, and Avery McDonald. He will also be fondly remembered by the many friends he made throughout his life.

A Memorial Service will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025 at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.
