Gary Doyle Snyder, 67, passed away on Wednesday, July 17, 2024, in Bronson,. Born on March 18, 1957, in the Bancroft Community near Merryville, Louisiana, he was the son of Burnice Wester Snyder and Mildred E. Johnson Snyder.
Gary spent his early years in Nebraska before settling in Sabine County, Texas, where he lived for over 40 years. He worked as a logger until his retirement, a career that reflected his deep connection to the outdoors. Gary was a proud veteran of the Army, serving his country with dedication.
A true outdoorsman, Gary cherished the time he spent fishing, camping, and hunting. His love for his dog, Smokey, was well-known among his family and friends. Gary's life was marked by his love for his family and the great outdoors.
He is survived by his son, Chad Snyder of Kansas; daughters, Jennifer Hulett and Shauna West, both of Omaha, Nebraska; Amber Hughes of Bronson, and Michelle Hughes of Brookeland; brother, Don Snyder of Jasper; sisters, Terry Varah of Lincoln, Nebraska, Robin Williams of Grapevine, Alabama, Carol Shreffler of Missouri, Paula Bragg of Bronson, and Tracy Montoya of Perryton; twelve grandchildren and seven greatgrandchildren.
A graveside service was held on Saturday, July 20, 2024, at Bronson Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home. Pallbearers included Bradley Brown, Zach Wright, Coby Hughes, Chris Snyder, Stevie Wilson, and Little Rick Shaddock. Honorary pallbearers are David Shaddock and Kevin Bragg.
In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas 75948, to assist with funeral expenses.
