Floyd Ricky Mitchell, passed away on November 23, 2025, at the age of 66 in Bronson. Born on October 16, 1959, in San Augustine, to Othel 'Red' Mitchell and Frances Ruby Lott Mitchell, he was a lifelong resident of Sabine County. Ricky was a hardworking man who made his living as a self-employed logger and carpenter, a testament to his strong work ethic and dedication to providing for his family. He was known for his love of 'shooting the bull' and his ability to engage with everyone he met, making lasting impressions with his spirited stories and warm presence.

Beyond his work, Ricky cherished the outdoors. He was an avid hunter and fisherman, and he took great pleasure in riding along dirt roads, exploring the natural beauty of his surroundings. These hobbies offered him not just relaxation but also precious moments of solitude and reflection.

Family was the cornerstone of Ricky's life. He is survived by his loving wife, Tammy Mitchell; his children, Daniel Mitchell and wife, Ilene, Ricky Mitchell and wife, Lacey, Judy Cook and husband, Tyrone, Becky Mitchell, Mandy Mitchell, and Dalton Mitchell; and his grandchildren, Brady, Landen, Easton, Kenli, Kota, Kaysa, Rylan, Hannah, Abby, Trevor, Kolton, Alayna, Kenzie, Chris, Andrew, Kalob, Kylee, Jeremiah, Terra, Jada, and Terrell.

Ricky also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren, nieces, and nephews, as well as his siblings, Kathy Spears, Glenda Loper, Roger Mitchell, Mickey Mitchell, and Peewee Mitchell. He was preceded in death by his parents, Red and Ruby Mitchell; sisters, Mona and Wilma; and grandson, Terence Freeman.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Monday, November 24, 2025, at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street in Hemphill, Texas.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Tuesday, November 25, 2025, in the chapel of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Floyd Wright and Bro. Danny Bentsen officiating.

Burial will follow service at Rosevine Cemetery. Pallbearers include Brady Mitchell, Landen Mitchell, Easton Mitchell, Rylan Mitchell, Trevor Mitchell, and Cody Spears, with honorary pallbearers Dennis Chance, Zack Spears and Graylon Hippler.

Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas, is assisting the family with arrangements.
