Elvin “Jack” Joseph Taylor, 92, of Tyler, passed away peacefully on February 4, 2025. He was born on September 29, 1932, in Bronson, to Elvin Taylor and Verda Marie Herndon Taylor.

A Celebration of Life Memorial Service was held at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday, February 8, 2025, at Eubank Funeral Home.

Elvin spent his early years in Hemphill, where he graduated from Hemphill High School. He went on to attend and graduate from Louisiana State University, always remaining a proud Tiger fan. Following his education, he served honorably in the U.S. Army during the Korean War, deeply committed to his country.

A man of ambition and energy, Elvin successfully ran multiple businesses while always making time for his family.

Elvin is preceded in death by his parents, Elvin and Verda Marie Herndon Taylor; wife, Billie Taylor; and his sister, Faye Corder.

He is survived by his wife, Carrol Taylor; daughter, Kathryn Taylor; son, Joseph Taylor and wife, Belinda; stepchildren, Mark Shores, Syndi Tow and husband, Rod; grandsons, Jason Taylor, Justin Reese, and Michael Tow; great grandchildren, Ainsley Taylor and Harper Taylor; sisters, Frances Clark and Sue Howard; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, extended family members, and dear friends.

Elvin will be inurned at Myrtle Springs Cemetery in Van Zandt, County, Texas.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations be made to Camp V in Tyler, Texas.
