Doris Jean Coward, 68, of Bronson, passed away Thursday, December 28, 2023 in Houston. Doris was born November 23, 1955 in Newton, Texas to Frank Molander and Imogene Moore Molander. She had been a resident of Sabine County since 2002, having previously resided in Merryville, Louisiana. She was a wonderful and caring wife and mother who enjoyed cooking. She also enjoyed visiting with her friends and family and fishing.

She is survived by her husband, Tommy Coward of Bronson; daughters, Pamela Woods and husband, Brian, of Bronson, Patricia Baggett of Merryville, Louisiana, and Kayla Parker and husband, Kelly, of San Augustine; step-sons, Kevin Coward and wife, Jennifer, of DeRidder, Louisiana and Steven Coward of Lake Charles, Louisiana; sisters, Charlotte Gurney and husband, Bill, of Candia, New Hampshire and Linda McMahon and husband, James, of Evans, Louisiana; ten grandchildren and five great grandchildren.

Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Tuesday, January 2, 2024 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.

Visitation will be held from 10:00 a.m. until 11:00 a.m. prior to service.

Burial will follow services in Plainview Cemetery with Seth Mathews, Matthew Mathews, Garrett Baggett, Kaleb Woods, Brian Woods and Kelly Parker serving as pallbearers.
