David Ray Whitmire
David Ray 'Bull' Whitmire, 62, of Hemphill, passed away on July 5, 2024, in Nacogdoches. Born on August 3, 1961, in Hemphill, to Cleo Whitmire and Clara Jones Whitmire. He was a cherished member of the community and a dedicated paramedic for over 25 years. David was a graduate of Hemphill High School earning the nickname, 'Bull' during his time playing Football. He began his career at Temple in Pineland, until his passion for helping others led him to a fulfilling career as a paramedic, where he devoted himself to service and care. An outdoorsman at heart, David enjoyed fishing, hunting, camping, and gardening, sharing these joys with family and friends.
He is survived by his loving wife, Rhonda Whitmire; Sons, Justin Whitmire and wife, Leslie, Lee Gardener and wife, Leigh, and Shawn Gardener and wife, Sarah; Daughters, Terrie Whitmire and husband, Juan Henderson, and Crystal Gardener and husband, Kerry; sisters, Gladys Tatum and husband, Eugene and Janice McDaniel and husband, Jimmy; David was a proud grandfather to Jathan Whitmire, Gracie Henderson, Dakota Henderson, Juan Jr. Henderson, Jacob Gardener, Shealea Johnson, Kinzley Gardener, Emoree Gardener, Gunnar Gardener, Evelyn Goble, Oaklyn Gardener, Cory Jackson, Kasey Gibbs, and Dustin Welch. He also leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren and extended family members.
David was preceded in death by his parents, Cleo and Clara Whitmire, and sisters, Mabel Clark, Bertha Morrison, and Margaret Jacks.
A visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, July 7, 2024 at Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas.
Funeral Services will begin at 11:00 a.m. on Monday, July 8, 2024 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.
Burial will follow services in Pinehill Cemetery with Shawn Gardener, Lee Gardener, Josh Moody, Woody Foster, Juan Henderson and Chad Morrison serving as pallbearers.
