David L. Smith, age 44, passed away Wednesday, June 17, 2026, in Nacogdoches County, Texas.

David was born with a servant’s heart and spent his life caring for others. A1999 graduate of San Augustine High School, he was known for his kindness, generosity, quick wit, and ability to make those around him smile. Whether he was caring for family, friends, patients, or m of his community, David alw others first.

David and the love of his life, Jennifer Smith, w school sweethearts and were united in marriage on D 20, 2003. Together they built a loving home and raised t dren who were the pride and joy of his life. David w voted husband and father whose greatest happiness ca spending time with his family.

Committed to lifelong learning and professional exc David earned his Master's Degree in 2013 and his D Degree in 2016. He dedicated his career to helping an for others, touching countless lives through his compas commitment to his patients.

David was also deeply devoted to his community an education. He faithfully served on the Chireno ISD Board for six years, including terms as president and, cently, secretary. He approached every decision with interests of the students, faculty, and district at heart, the respect and admiration of those who served alongside him.

David is survived by his loving wife, Jennifer Smith of annah Smith of Chireno; son, Colton other and stepfather, Ann and Ronnie mith and family; stepbrother, Ryan Ham law, Derrell and Helen Gardner; brotherd times. show up when needed, o feeling a little better th David is survived b Chireno; daughter, Ha Smith of Chireno; mo Ham; brother, Scott Sm and family; parents-in-l in-law, DeWayne Gardner; and a host of beloved relatives and cherished friends.

David was preceded in death by his father, Eddie Smith.

David's legacy of lo tove, service, compassion, and dedication to others will continue to live on in the hearts of of all who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
