Charles Wayne Tatom
Charles Wayne Tatom, aged 75, of Magnolia, passed away on Saturday, June 14, 2025, at his residence. Born in Hemphill, on June 22, 1949, to Clyde Tatom and Marie Sanford Tatom, Charles was a longtime resident of Sabine County and had lived in Magnolia for the past 25 years. He dedicated his career to serving as a paramedic for the Houston Fire Department.
Charles had a passion for fishing and enjoyed growing watermelons. He cherished spending time with his grandchildren and pets and had a fondness for visiting casinos.
He is survived by his loving wife, Barbara Tatom of Magnolia; his sons, John Wayne and wife, Shandra, of Silsbee, Michael Simmons of Magnolia, and Weyland Simmons of Cypress; his brother, Eugene Tatom and wife, Gladys, of Hemphill; his grandchildren, Chad Tatom, Adysan Tatom, Maci Tatom, Baylee Savoy, Brady Tatom, Olivia Simmons, Malena Simmons, and Tobias Simmons; and his great-grandchildren, Mitchell Tatom and Wyatt Tatom.
Funeral services will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Wednesday, June 25, 2025, in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, located at 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.
Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow in Plainview Cemetery with Diego Gonzalez, Jacob Stanley, Cody Alford, Chad Tatom, Brian Tatom, Mike Summers and Charles Davis serving as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearer includes, Troy Wilkie.
