Charles Lucian Rhodes, Jr., 81, of Hemphill, Texas passed away Thursday, September 15, 2022 in Winnie, Texas.

He was born in Port Arthur, on April 12, 1941 to Charles L. 'Dusty' Rhodes and Hannah Cope Rhodes. He was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and then a member of the United States Army. After serving in the military, he worked as a boilermaker in the refineries for many years before retiring. After retiring, he began working in the construction field. He and his wife, Julie, had been residents of Port Arthur before moving to Hemphill in 2010.

He is survived by his wife of 62 years, Julie Rhodes of Hemphill; son, Charles Anthony Rhodes and wife, Donna, of Hemphill; daughters, Tracey Smith and husband, Jeff, of Nederland, Allison Byrd and husband, Chris, of Fannett, Tiffany Sawyer and husband, Randy, of Port Arthur, and Misty Navarro and husband, Doug, of Fannett; brothers, David Rhodes and wife, Eva, of Hemphill and Larry Rhodes and wife, Eileen, of Nederland; sister, Charlotte North and husband, Donnie, of Hemphill; grandchildren, Jeffery Smith and wife, Lauren, Christopher Rhodes and wife, Ashley, Gage LaFleur and wife, Erica, Christian Navarro, Taylor Sawyer, Caleb Byrd and wife, Morgan, Ameythist Navarro, Skylar Burge and husband, Jimmy, and Cody Byrd and wife, Megan; and great grandchildren, Madison, Lauren, Gavin, Brennan, Anyssa, Zoey, Ryder, Jensen, Marleigh, and a little boy on the way, Kayce.

Funeral services were held Sept. 18, 2022 at Starr Funeral Home Chapel, with Charlotte North officiating.

Burial followed services in Yellowpine Cemetery with Jeffery Smith, Gage LaFleur, Taylor Sawyer, Cody Byrd, Caleb Byrd, Christian Navarro and Christopher Rhodes serving as pallbearers and Chester Sams serving as honorary pallbearer.
