Carol Ann Warner
Carol Ann Warner, 84, of Hemphill, Texas passed away peacefully Monday, May 22, 2023 at her residence with her family by her side.
She was born October 1, 1938 to be with parents Willard Higgs and Vinita 'Dutch' Turner Higgs. She was a graduate of Thomas Jefferson High School and she later went on to establish the Learn to Bowl Program for children where she worked for many years. She also organized the Groves Girls Softball League spending her time making sure the league had the equipment and uniforms they needed. She then started working as an Administrative Assistant for DuPont in Beaumont and later in Orange before retiring.
After her retirement, she and her husband, Spunk, moved to Sabine County in 1996. She was a member of Six Mile Baptist Church, a member of a bridge club and she was a Red Hat Lady. She loved to go camping, fishing and traveling and never lost her love of bowling.
Carol is survived by her daughters, Laurie Kathryn Forrest and husband, Scott, of St. Augustine, FL and Candace Ann Crim and and husband, Chad Cecil Crim of Houston; sister, Betty Jo Shannon of Groves; grandchildren, Roland Travis Patin and wife, Charlotte, Ashton Leigh Sparrow and husband, Paul, Amanda Carol McClelland and husband, Ben, Chad Conner Crim and Cameron Cecil Crim and wife, Brittany; and great grandchildren, Roland Tripp Patin, Jayson Michael Patin, Harrison Warner Sparrow and Sutton Leigh Sparrow.
She was preceded in death by her husband, Fredie Olan 'Spunk'Warner; daughter, Donna Gail Smith; son-in-law, Henry Allen Smith; and her two brothers.
Funeral services were held May 27, in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.
Burial will follow service in Yellowpine Cemetery with Scott Forrest, Chad Crim, Conner Crim, Cameron Crim, Ben McClelland and Paul Sparrow serving as pallbearers.
