Burna Dee Lloyd
Burna Dee Lloyd (née Dixon), age 90, passed away peacefully on August 7, 2025, in Hemphill. Born on April 4, 1935, in Port Arthur, Burna was raised in Southeast Texas and graduated from South Park High School in Beaumont as a proud member of the Class of 1953. She later made Beaumont her home for many years before settling in Hemphill, where she lived for the past fifteen years. Burna dedicated much of her professional life to working as a timekeeper in refineries and other industries. Her diligence and attention to detail were hallmarks of her career, and she took pride in her work throughout the years.
She was a devoted mother and is survived by her sons, Kerwin Lloyd and wife, Geri, of Hemphill, and James Craig Lloyd and wife, Rosemary, of Sugarloaf, California; her daughter, Tina Renee Doyle of Livingston; and her sister, Joann Hebert of Beaumont. She also leaves behind three cherished grandchildren who brought great joy to her life.
A woman of many interests, Burna found happiness in simple pleasures. She loved shopping and had a special fondness for kitchen gadgets—always eager to try out the latest culinary tools. Her green thumb was evident in the care she gave to her plants, which filled her home with life. She enjoyed exploring new restaurants and never missed an opportunity to dance when music played. Her warmth and vibrant spirit endeared her not only to her family but also to those at Legacies who came to know and love her.
Burna was a Christian whose faith guided her throughout life. She was preceded in death by her mother, Cleo Vickers Dixon and her brother, Sonny Dixon.
Her memory will live on through those who knew and loved her—family members near and far, friends old and new, and all who were touched by her kindness.
Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home. A memorial service will be announced at a later date.
