Betty Lou Elliott
Betty Lou Elliott, aged 84, passed away on September 2, 2026, in Webster. Born on August 12, 1942, in Houston, Betty spent 25 years of her life in Hemphill, after previously living in Baytown. She was a respected educator, having taught middle school math for many years at North Shore ISD before her retirement. A devout member of the First Methodist Church in Hemphill, Betty actively participated in the choir and served as the church secretary. Her community involvement extended to the Prayer Shawl Ministry, and she cherished the fellowship at church socials. Betty's love for the outdoors was evident in her enjoyment of fishing and hunting, activities that brought her much joy during her time in Hemphill.
Betty is survived by her sons, John “JW” Elliott and his wife, Lisa, of Santa Fe, and Troy Elliott of Huntsville; her grandchildren, Shelby, Lenny, and Britany; and six great-grandchildren. Her life was a testament to her dedication to family, faith, and community.
