Diann Easley Short, a lifelong resident of Sabine County, passed away on August 5, 2026. She was born in Hemphill, to Thomas S. Easley and Callie Mae Harley Easley, and spent her entire life rooted in the community she called home. On January 14, 1970, Diann married the love of her life, June Truitte Short. Together they built a family and shared a life in Sabine County until his death in 2004.

Diann was a devoted mother and grandmother whose family was at the heart of her life. She is survived by her children, Justin Todd Short and Ashley Diann Short, both of Pineland; her bonus daughter, Truitta Forse and her husband David of Pineland; and her grandson, Zachary Todd Short, whom she adopted and raised as her own.

She was also a beloved grandmother to Michael, Kristopher, Kandace, James, Cochanna, and Gunnar, as well as Landon, Ashley's Godson, who held a special place in her heart. Diann leaves behind numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren who will carry her memory and the love she gave them into future generations.

Diann's life was deeply intertwined with her family and the community of Sabine County. She leaves behind a legacy measured not only in the years she lived, but in the generations she touched. Her love, strength, and devotion to her family will continue to live on through her children, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren.

Diann is also survived by her brothers, Don Easley and wife, Sandra and James Easley and sisters, Johnnie Faye Godsey, Jimmie Hippler and husband, Cllenton and Martha Griffin and husband, Jerry.

She will be deeply missed and forever remembered by all who knew and loved her.

Funeral services for Diann were held at 2:00 p.m. Saturday, August 8, 2026 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street in Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.

. Burial will follow services in Lott Cemetery with Scooter Sowell, Brian Ellison, Taco Davis, Brad Easley, Marty Griffin, Chris Johnson, Michael Whiteside and Royce Parrish serving as pallbearers.
