Donald Wesley Stark
Donald Wesley Stark, 77, passed away on May 12, 2026, in Choctaw, Oklahoma. Born on August 30, 1948, in Leesville, Louisiana, to Wesley and Maurine Boone Stark, Donald was a lifelong resident of Sabine County and spent his career working in sawmills. Donald was a man of simple pleasures and deep passions. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved hunting and fishing, and he took great pride in his annual garden. His love for Zwolle Tamales and Stokers Original Cut Chewing Tobacco was well-known among his friends and family. A fan of WWF and old westerns, especially those featuring John Wayne, he also enjoyed old school country music. Above all, Donald cherished his relationship with his beloved 'Sweet Pea,' Crystal.
Donald was preceded in death by his wife of nearly 30 years, Barbara Stark; his parents, Wesley and Maurine Stark; and his brother, Thomas Earl Stark.
He is survived by his son, Chris Stark of Dallas; daughters, Cindy Marik and her husband, Brad, of Houston, and Crystal Faver and her husband, Michael, of Choctaw, OK; cousin, Juanita Merchant of Hemphill; grandchildren, Colton, Cammeron, Carson, Shawn, Hannah, and Heather; and nine greatgrandchildren.
Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, May 17, 2026, at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street in Hemphill.
Funeral services are scheduled for 11:00 a.m. on Monday, May 18, 2026, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Bro. Rex White.
Burial will follow at Harper Chapel Cemetery. Pallbearers include Mike Ray, Coleman Davis, Landon Means, Chris Hogan, Dennis Durbin, William Bass, and Bobby Shepard, with Jimmy Spears serving as an honorary pallbearer.
Donald's life and legacy will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, as a dedicated family man, a lover of nature, and a true friend.
