Rhonda Lou Hargis
Rhonda Lou Hargis, born on July 13, 1960, in Converse, Louisiana to Joseph V. Procell and Lucille Mae Leone Procell, passed away on May 13, 2026, in Nacogdoches, at the age of 65. A lifelong resident of Sabine County and a 1978 graduate of Hemphill High School, Rhonda dedicated many years of her career as a secretary in the insurance sector. Rhonda was a member of the First Baptist Church in Hemphill, where her involvement went beyond mere attendance, reflecting her deep faith and commitment to her community. She enjoyed taking road trips, exploring new destinations, and looking for antiques along the way.
Family was the cornerstone of Rhonda's life. She cherished moments spent with her grandchildren and took immense pride in caring for her family, creating a nurturing home filled with love and laughter.
Rhonda is survived by her husband of 43 years, Dickie Hargis of Hemphill; her parents, Joe and Lucille Procell, also of Hemphill; her son, Ethan Hargis of Austin; daughters, Erica Herman and her husband, Tim, of Bee Cave and Sarah Burrows and her husband, Dustin, of Lumberton; brothers, Steve Procell and his companion, Cynthia Soto, of College Station and Ronny Procell and his wife, Cheryl, of Bronson; sisters, Dianne Lout of Jasper and Kathy Threadgill of Hemphill; and her beloved grandchildren, Kyleigh, Kinslee, Kaisley, Chloe, Stephen, and J.T.
Visitation will be held from 5:30 until 8:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 20, 2026, at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street in Hemphill.
Funeral services will begin at 11:00 a.m. Thursday, May 21, 2026, in Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Tracy Lane officiating.
Burial will follow service in Yellowpine Cemetery with Tim Herman, Dustin Burrows, Gary Parks, Sean Anderson, Cody Lout and Don Smith serving as pallbearers.
Rhonda's legacy of love, dedication, and community spirit will live on through the many lives she touched. Her presence will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
