Michelle Rene Alvarado
Michelle Rene Alvarado, born on January 14, 1969, in Austin, to Percy Romo and Cloye Ethel Ellis Romo, passed away on April 5, 2026, at the age of 57 in Pineland,. Michelle spent her formative years in Austin before making Pineland her home for the last 28 years. A dedicated educator, Michelle served the students of West Sabine ISD for two decades, becoming a beloved figure who was described as a positive, shining light. Her love for her students was palpable, and she cherished the mutual affection they shared. Even after her retirement, Michelle continued to nurture young minds through tutoring, driven by her passion for education and her desire to make a difference.
Michelle's life was not only defined by her professional achievements but also by her personal joys. She was a devoted grandmother who relished the time spent with her grandchildren, Aiden Dupree, Averie Alvarado, Joshua Alvarado, and Luka Alvarado. Her love extended to her pets and to the culinary delights she created, which brought her family and friends together.
She leaves behind her son, Joshua Alvarado and his wife, Destiny, of Pineland; her sisters, Cheryl Dwyer and husband, Tom, of Arizona, and Lisa Romo of Pflugerville; her goddaughter, Mia Lee; and her best friends, Vickie Lane and Cynthia Durbin. Michelle was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, Prescott Smith, and Gary Sturrock, whom she loved like a son.
A memorial service for Michelle will be held at a later date. Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas, handled the arrangements.
Michelle's legacy as a compassionate educator and a loving family member will be cherished and remembered by all who knew her.
