Garrick Keith Newell, born on August 20,1996, in Nacogdoches, to Gary Dean Newell and Karen Amanda Wilson Newell, sadly passed away at the age of 29 on February 7, 2026, in Houston. A lifetime resident of Sabine County, Garrick made his home in Rosevine, where he embraced life as a devoted husband to Candice Newell and a loving father to his daughters, Dallee Newell and Hadley Jones. Garrick had attended Hemphill High School and built a respected career as a general foreman supervisor with PMC, specializing in refinery shutdowns. His dedication to his work was profound, as he lived to work, ensuring the safety and efficiency of his team and projects.

He was a man whose life was anchored by the joy he found in his family. Garrick's loved ones were his world, and he cherished every moment spent with them. His warmth and loving nature will be deeply missed by all who knew him.

Garrick is survived by his wife, Candice; daughters, Dallee and Hadley; brother, Drew Merchant of Hemphill; grandparents, Doris and Steve Arney of Hemphill; father-in-law, Clint Jackson and his wife, Tonja; aunt and uncle, Ginger and Matt Nethery; his cousins who felt more like brothers, David Brunet and wife, Kortney and their three children with one on the way, Aaron Nethery and wife, Katelyn with two children and also, one on the way, and Robert Wilson; his cousin, Sara Wilson McClintock, who was his sister in every way and Sherri Boyd and husband, Dylan and their two children ; sister's-in-law, Hanna Jackson of Milam, Kayla Jackson of Montgomery and Aria Jackson of Bryan/College Station; brother-in-law, Tristan Jackson, also of Bryan/College Station; along with many other family members and friends who felt his love and kindness.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Karen and Gary Newell; his mother-in-law, Angela Jackson; and grandparents, Sherrill and Gary Newell, Sr.

Visitation for Garrick will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 9:00 p.m. on Thursday, February 12, 2026, at Starr Funeral Home, 510 Starr Street in Hemphill, Texas.

Funeral services are scheduled for 2:00 p.m. on Friday, February 13, 2026, in Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Lonnie Crawford officiating.

Following the service, burial will take place at Wise Cemetery in Milam, Texas. Pallbearers include Jordan Hanzel, Anthony Russell, Caleb Havard, Christopher Moore, Jason Forbis, Josh Jackson, Hunter Meeks, Tyler Meeks, Nick Crocker, and Devan Newman. Honorary pallbearers are Bo Hanzel and Clint Havard.
