Allen Grier Burson, 75, passed away on December 8, 2025, in Hemphill. Born on July 7, 1950, in Buchanan, Georgia, Allen was a proud veteran of the United States Navy, serving his country with dedication. After his military service, he worked as a machinist in chemical refineries, a role that showcased his precision and commitment to quality.
Allen was known for his deep love of fishing, a hobby that brought him peace and joy throughout his life. A longtime resident of Sabine County, he previously lived in Port Neches and was a cherished member of the community.
He leaves behind his wife of almost 33 years, Joy Burson; sons, Colby Burson, Logan Burson and his wife, Amanda; stepson, Jason Peltier; daughters, Britny Arnett, Caitlin Smith and her husband, Kayson, and Carly Peltier. He is also survived by his siblings, Jim Rigney and his wife, Linda, Tom Rigney and his wife, Karen, and sister, Candy Rigney. Allen was a beloved grandfather to Kelsey, Bryston, Payton, James, Declan, Reagan, Silas, and Olivia. He was preceded in death by his beloved grandmother, Nellie Burson, who was a significant influence in his life.
Cremation arrangements are being handled by Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas.
Allen's life and service will be remembered fondly by all who knew him, and his legacy will live on through his family and the many lives he touched.
