Curtiss Ray Mincher, 74, of San Augustine, passed away Tuesday, July 5, 2022.

He was born Feb. 6, 1948, in Oklahoma. After a distinguished career with the U.S. Army, he retired as a First Sergeant. He received numerous awards, recognition, and honors while serving his country and was a former American Legion member.

For several years following his retirement from the U.S. Army, he has resided in San Augustine. He had a great love for spending time with his family as well gardening and outdoor activities.

His survivors include his wife, Kay Eaton Mincher of San Augustine; a daughter, Angela Shaffer of San Augustine; stepdaughter, Tami Merchant and husband, Jeremy of Carrollton; a sister, Margaret Marie Wagstaff of Broaddus; grandsons, Thomas Bird of Pineland, James Bird of San Augustine, Jeremy Chad Ayers of Huntington and Adam Merchant and Mason Merchant, both of Carrollton; and a host of great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren. He will also be missed by his fur babies, Rocky and Ellie Mae.

He was preceded in death by his mother, Carrie Campbell Wagstaff; father, Riley Mincher; a son, Kevin Thomas Mincher; and brother, Kenneth Riley Mincher.

Funeral services were held Monday, July 11, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Don Lofton officiating.
