Harold “Brent” Powell, 83, of Bronson, passed away on July 13, 2025, in San Augustine. Born on April 8, 1942, in Pittsburg, Texas to Charles Rory Powell and Mary Ruth Landers Powell, Brent lived a life marked by dedication to his family, service to his country and fellow Texans, and a deep appreciation for nature.

Brent proudly served in the United States Navy aboard the USS Ozbourn. His time in the military reflected his strong sense of duty and commitment—values that would continue to guide him throughout his life.

Following his military service, Brent built a long and respected career as an Operations Agent with Eastern Airlines at Dallas Love Field and DFW Airport. His work ethic and reliability earned him the respect of colleagues and friends alike. After retiring from Eastern Airlines, he relocated to Sabine County and worked for NAPA in Hemphill. He spent the next 30 years enjoying a quieter pace of life.

A man of many interests, Brent was an avid gunsmith who took pride in craftsmanship and precision. He also enjoyed working on cars and passed on to his sons his knowledge of car mechanics. He daily loved bird watching and spending time outdoors, where he felt most at peace among the trees and wildlife. His love for animals extended to pets of all kinds, especially his cats, which brought him great comfort and companionship over the years.

Brent was a longtime member of Clawson Assembly of God in Pollok, where he participated in The Heart Center food box ministry serving Texans, helping those in need for several years. His faith in Jesus was a steady presence in his life and provided him direction and strength.

Family was at the heart of everything Brent did. He cherished watching his children and grandchildren grow up and took great delight in attending their events and milestones.

He is survived by his devoted wife of 45 years, Vicki Powell of Bronson; sons Charles “Brent” Powell and wife, Erica, and Timothy Nelson “Tim” Powell and wife, Kayla—all of Bronson; brother Charles Edgar “Ed” Powell and wife, Flora, of Las Vegas, Nevada; and grandchildren, Alexandrea, Ethan, Caleb, and Eli.

Brent’s legacy lives on through those who knew him best— his family, friends, fellow veterans, and all who shared in his love for God and Country, family and just simple, quiet moments outdoors.

Funeral services will be held on Thursday, July 17, 2025, at 01:00 PM at Clawson Assembly of God, 5569 U S 69, Pollok, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Pastor Josh Poage and Pastor Kevin Poage officiating.

Burial will follow services in the family cemetery, Bronson, Texas with friends and family serving as pallbearers.
