Thomas Vernon Barnes was born on December 14, 1946 in DeRidder, Louisiana to Roy and Margaret Barnes. Thomas passed away on May 15, 2025 at the age of 78 in his home in Rosevine, surrounded by his children and wife.

Thomas was a retired process operator. He loved playing his guitar and singing in church with his church family, tending to the animals on his farm and being around his family. He loved going to church and sitting outside in his swing enjoying God’s amazing creation.

Thomas and Kathryn were married on April 30, 2010 and were blessed with 15 years together before his death.

Thomas loved his children, grandchildren and great grandchildren more than anything. He always put the Lord first and loved his church, Bethel Chapel. He was a generous, kind and thoughtful man who was always using his time to help others until he physically could not. He loved to crack jokes and always make people laugh. He was known as “Silly PawPaw” to his great grandchildren and was a very loving person to all of those around him.

Thomas is survived by his wife, Kathryn Barnes; sons, Tommy Barnes and Mark Barnes and his wife, Lisa; daughter, Jennifer Sturm and husband, Kurt, all of Vidor; brother, Donnie Barnes and wife, Renee, of Beaumont; grandchildren, Kami Noel and husband, Wesley, Kameron Sturm and wife, Sieera, Jessica Hill and husband, Seth, and Emily and Ayden Barnes; and great grandchildren, Parker, Rylee and Finn Noel, Hadlee Hill, and Alaina and Addison Sturm.

He was preceded in death by his wife of 41 years, Carole Barnes and brother, David Barnes.

Memorials services for Thomas will begin at 5:00 p.m. Friday, May 30, 2025, at Bethel Baptist Church, 854 N Highway 96, Pineland, TX with Bro. Joe Carroway officiating.
