Ted Calvin Sanders passed away peacefully at his home in Hemphill, on April 19, 2025, at the age of 67. He was born on March 4, 1958, in Riverside, California, to Calvin Sanders and Geneva “Genni” Smithson. Ted proudly served his country as a member of the United States Army. Following his military service, he worked as a truck driver for Freight, dedicating many years to a profession that took him across the country. He shared a deep and special bond with his beloved dog, Snow, who was a constant companion and source of comfort throughout his life.

Ted is survived by his wife, Joy Sanders of Hemphill; sisters Kim Samra and Ginger Bumgarner and her husband Tony of Riverside, California; stepson Charles Nance of Utah; and his closest friends Shawn, David, Scott, and Steve. He also leaves behind numerous nieces and nephews who will remember him fondly.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Calvin Sanders and Genni Smithson, as well as his sister Debra Sanders.

Ted’s life was marked by dedication—to his country, to his work, and to those he held dear. May his memory bring comfort to all who knew him.

Cremation arrangements were handled by Starr Funeral Home.

A memorial service will be held at a later date.

Judy Lynn Tolar, a longtime resident of Sabine County, Texas, passed away Sunday, April 13, 2025, at Mill Creek Nursing Home in Silsbee, Texas, at the age of 68 years, 10 months.

Judy was born June 13, 1956, in Beaumont, Texas, to parents George and Bettie Tolar.

She is survived by her son, Jason McCray; brothers, Ronnie Harris and Judson Tolar; nieces, Keri Green, Danielle Wilkerson, Michelle Ferguson, and Rachel Ferguson; and nephews, Steve Thomas, Brett Thomas, and Chevy Faught.

A Celebration of Life service will be held at 11:00 a.m. Saturday, May 3, 2025, at Yellowpine Baptist Church, located at the Hwy. 87/FM 2343 intersection in the Yellowpine Community of Sabine County.
