Billy Ray Wright, aged 93, of Hemphill, passed away on February 27, 2025, in Hemphill. Born on March 25, 1931, to Mack and Mary Wright, Billy was a lifelong resident of Sabine County. He dedicated many years of his life working as a bulldozer operator until his retirement. In his leisure time, Billy enjoyed fishing and camping, activities that brought him great joy. He is survived by his sons, Danny West and wife, Tammie, of Hemphill, and Randy West of Bronson; his daughters, Donna Brasher and husband, Jamie, of Pineland, and Judy Brown of Brookeland. Billy also leaves behind numerous grandchildren, great-grandchildren, and great-great-grandchildren who will cherish his memory.

Billy was preceded in death by his wife of 56 years, June Evon Wright; daughter, Linda Ponder; sons, Cecil West and Larry West; his parents and his siblings.

Visitation will be held from 5:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. on Sunday, March 2, 2025, at Starr Funeral Home, located at 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas.

Funeral services were held Monday, March 3, 2025, in the Starr Funeral Home Chapel with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.

He was laid to rest in Rosevine Cemetery. Serving as pallbearers were Aaron McClelland, Eric Pickard, Brad Brown, Shane LeBlanc, Troy West and Dakota Crow. Honorary pallbearers are Stephen White and Bradley Brown.
