Christine Marie 'Chris' Bertrand, 72, of Hemphill, passed away at her residence on Friday, January 24, 2025. Chris was born in Beaumont, on December 21, 1952, in Fannette, to Willie and Emma Hargrave Lulue. She later became a longtime resident of Hemphill, where she had lived since 1985 after previously residing in New Rose, Louisiana. A self-employed entrepreneur, Chris was the proud owner of CSM Canvas, a business specializing in custom bags for paramedics and major sports teams. Beyond her professional endeavors, she was a devoted mother and grandmother who brought joy and love to her family.

Chris was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church in Many, Louisiana, and an active participant in the Pendleton Harbor Fire Department. She found great joy in crocheting and crafting intricate doilies for her loved ones. Chris cherished time spent fishing with her grandchildren and was known for her exceptional cooking skills, always ensuring everyone around her was well-fed and cared for.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Bill Bertrand.

Chris leaves behind a loving family who will forever cherish her memory: daughters, Shannin Williams and Rob Moya of Galveston and Mary Lowe and husband, Wes, of Lumberton; son-in-law Eric Williams of Hemphill; brother, Maurice Le-Leaux of Fannette; sisters, Bonnie Lulux of Port Arthur, Verna McCollum of Beaumont, and LeeAnna Payne of Raytown, Missouri; grandchildren, Erica Williams and Kristen, Brittany Patillo and husband, Chad, Morgan Blue and husband Alex, and Ty Bertrand; as well as great-grandchildren Brydger, Grayson, Granger, and Hadi.
