Joyce Carrell Courtney, 90, passed from this life on Saturday, June 25, 2022, in Willis. She was born June 9, 1932, in White City, San Augustine County, to the late Mary Isabell (Townsend) Carrell and Troy Mitchell Carrell. She resided on Lake Conroe in Willis.

She is survived by her loving and devoted husband of almost 50 years, Jim Courtney. She dearly loved her family and enjoyed sharing stories of her life growing up on a farm with 10 kids! She was very competitive and loved playing a good game of dominoes.

Those left to cherish her memory include her husband; daughter, Patricia Deal and husband, Steve; sons, Steve Snow and wife, Deborah, Karl Baumert, Lee Courtney and wife, Laura, and Lynn Courtney and wife, Linda; grandchildren, Scott Deal, Brad Deal, Sheila Snow, Anna Daniel, Michelle Baumert, David Courtney, and Jennifer Courtney; great-grandchildren, Kaleb Deal, Joshua Deal, Kelyn Deal, Makenna Deal, Hannah Snow, Sadie Hart, Raelyn Douglas, Dylin Courtney, Isabella Dow, and Noah Dow; a great-great-grandson, Peter Deal; sisters, Murlene Wall, Vernell Bergen, Sue Pickard, and Mary Wall; and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by parents; brothers, Troy Carrell, Royce Carrell, and Leroy Carrell; sisters, Minnie Husband and Mozel Kingsley; daughter, Kianne Courtney; and daughter-in-law, Deb Baumert.

Visitation will be held from 1:30 to 2 p.m. with services to follow on Wednesday, June 29, at Wyman Roberts Funeral Home, with Bro. Mike Wall and Bro. Steve Snow officiating. Interment will follow at Broaddus Cemetery in Broaddus.

Pallbearers include, Scott Deal, Brad Deal, Kelyn Deal, Lee Courtney, Alan Wall, and Clifford Kingsley.
