Rev. Otis Doyle Rhame, aged 77, of Hemphill, passed away peacefully on Friday, December 6, 2024, at Sabine County Hospital. Born on December 10, 1946, in San Augustine, he was the beloved son of Otis Troy Rhame and Velma Beatrice Brown Rhame.

Rev. Rhame dedicated many years of his life to his work as a millwright at Temple-Inland in Pineland. A resident of Sabine County since 2008, he previously lived in Jasper. His faith was a cornerstone of his life, and he was a devoted member of the Rosevine Missionary Baptist Church. As an ordained minister, he served as pastor at Shiloh Missionary Baptist Church in Vidor, for several years, touching many lives with his spiritual guidance.

Rev. Rhame had a passion for wood crafting and mechanicing, and he was an avid fan of both baseball and football. Above all, he cherished the time spent with his grandchildren, who brought immense joy to his life.

He is survived by his son, Chris Rhame, and wife, Machelle, of Rosevine; daughter, Veronica 'Nikki' Simmons, and husband, Mark, of Hemphill; brothers, Tim Rhame and wife, Catrina, of Brookeland, and Gene Rhame of Dayton; sister, Maxine Rhame Hollenbeck, and husband, Mike, of Beaumont; sisters-in-law, Willie Ann Rhame of Dayton and Ethel Rhame of San Antonio; brother, T. J. Tullas; grandchildren, Dustin and Lindsey Nichols of Hemphill, Melissa and Dalton Eidson of Bon Wier, Chassidy Simmons and Carissa Simmons, both of Hemphill, Sydney and Kurt Perry of Nacogdoches,Ashlie and John Sims and Tiffany and Jake Mathers, all of West Monroe; and great grandchildren, Matthew Bartlett, Lexi Bartlett,Arlin Eidson, Bethany Nichols, Jennifer Nichols, Easton Nichols, Blade Sims, Joseph Mathers and Merideth Mathers.

He was preceded in death by his wife, Willie Marie Davis Rhame, daughter, Melissa Ann Rhame; mother, Velma Beatrice Rhame Thompson; father, Otis Troy Rhame; stepfather, Charles Marvin Thompson; brothers, Homer Troy Rhame and Cecil Dale Rhame; grandson, Logan Anthony Simmons; and sisters, Bonnie Faye Cleveland and Martha Aailene Jones.

Funeral services will be held at 1:00 p.m. on Sunday, December 8, 2024, at Starr Funeral Home Chapel in Hemphill, Texas, with Bro. Clif Durham officiating.

Visitation will begin one hour prior to the service.

Burial will follow service at Davis Cemetery, County Road 475, Kirbyville, TX 75956. Serving as pallbearers will be his grandchildren, Dustin Nichols, Kurt Perry, Matthew Bartlett, Jake Mathers, John Sims, Melissa Eidson,Arlin Eidson, Easton Nichols, Blade Sims, Joseph Mathers and Dalton Eidson.
