Cary Charles (Pete) Gray III, age 71, of Hemphill passed away on October 8, 2024. Cary Charles Gray, born November 19, 1952 in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma to Cary Charles Gray Jr. and Jean Chambers Gray. After only two weeks of life, Pete's family moved to Port Arthur, where he lived a life in the fast lane! Pete traveled the world through his early adult life. Sending many postcards home to his Momma and Daddy of his adventures. Pete loved music, attending many concerts with his life long friends Clifford, Kyle, and Robert.

Pete eventually traveled to Oklahoma for work where he met Ida Gail Rollins Gray. Pete and Ida married in 1978 and moved back to TX to work at Gulf Refinery. During Pete and Ida's 23 years of marriage. Many memories were made but Pete's best memories were the births of his 3 children. Cary Gray IV, Clyde Gray, and Crystal Gray. Pete Loved his children dearly and supported them in all paths they walk in life.

Pete met Patty and 1 year later, they married in 2006. He then retired and they moved to Mangum, OK to be closer to his children. Pete and Patty enjoyed harvesting from their garden and fruit tree. Their apricot jelly is still loved by the family. Pete found a new love of gardening, teaching his sons how to hunt, and loved spending time cooking with his daughter Crystal. Pete was an amazing cook, much like his father. In 2013 Pete moved to Hemphill, where he became the owner of Grays Sanitation. Pete spent his life enjoying his wife, children, grandchildren, and friends. Pete is loved by many and will be missed dearly.

Pete is survived by his wife of 18 years, Patty Gray of Hemphill; sons, Cary Charles Gray IV and Clyde Christian Gray along with his wife Ashlea, all of Ninnekah, OK; and daughter, Crystal Candice Carlton and her husband Jaycob, of Paul's Valley, OK. His joy was further multiplied by his three grandchildren, Baizel, Bentley, and Hal'Lee, with another grandchild on the way.

Pete was preceded in death by his parents and his brother, Clifford Gray.

Cremation arrangements are under the care of Starr Funeral Home, Hemphill, Texas.
