Darren Lynn Porter, 56, of the Six Mile Community of Hemphill, passed away Monday, August 26, 2024 in Houston. He was born June 11, 1968 in Port Arthur, to Timothy Porter and Sharon Kent. Darren loved his family, music, fishing and thrifting. An avid sports fan, his support for the Dallas Cowboys, the Houston Astros, the Texas Longhorns and the Hemphill Hornets was over the top as was his love for his community.

Darren is survived by his beloved wife, Jennifer; son, Nicholas Porter and Kendall Schmidtz; daughter, Jaryn Grace Porter; granddaughters, Jarah Leigh and Nayvie Mae; his father, Timothy and Janet Porter; his brother, Kevin and Joley Porter; sisters, Shelly Klima and Jimmy Landrum and Kimberly Renfro; and many nieces, nephews, great nieces and great nephews.

He was preceded in death by his grandparents, his mother, Sharon Kent; stepfather, Mike Kent; and sister, Kelli Tauber.

A Celebration of Life in honoring Darren will be held by his family at their home in Six Mile beginning at 1:00 p.m. Saturday, September 21, 2024.

In lieu of flowers, a benefit account has been opened at Sabine State Bank.
