Jerry Marvin Stanfield, 82, of Hemphill, passed away on Sunday, July 21, 2024, in Fredericksburg. Born on May 29, 1942, in Willard, Ohio, to Gehrett Erwin Stanfield and Arlene Alice Courtright. Jerry served honorably in the U.S. Navy, before establishing a successful career as a respected contractor in the construction field where he was respected for his work ethic and expertise.

A longtime resident of Sabine County, Jerry was an early resident of El Camino Bay. He was known for his love of his community and neighbors. Fishing, playing poker, golf, and vegetable gardening were among his favorite activities, along with cooking. His culinary gatherings and poker nights were cherished by his friends and family.

Jerry was a beloved father, brother, grandfather, and greatgrandfather. He is survived by his daughters, Wendie Hyer and her husband, Kent, of Austin, and Heidy Griffin and her husband, Marty, of Rosevine; his brother, Ric Stanfield of Apple Valley, CA; his grandchildren, Hannah Hyer and fiancé, Billy Dillon, Austin Griffin, and Autumn Griffin; and his greatgrandchild, Dean Griffin. He was preceded in death by his parents, his son, Brad Stanfield, and his brother, Ron Stanfield.

Funeral services were held on Saturday, July 27, 2024, at Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas, with Bro. Brad Nobel officiating.

Visitation took place from 11:00 a.m. until the time of the service.

Burial followed in Isaac Low Cemetery in El Camino Bay, Hemphill, Texas. Serving as pallbearers are Austin Griffin, Roger Griffin, Billy Dillon, Eric Hudnall, Jerry Heintschel and L. B. Cupit. Honorary pallbearers are James Hebert, Charlie Cox and Tommy Scales.

Starr Funeral Home in Hemphill, Texas, is assisting the family during this time.
