Joe Carlton Jones, 64, of Chinquapin, passed away on Friday, May 31, 2024 at his residence. He was born on July 22, 1959, in Corrigan, to Junious Burnette Jones and Mildred Pauline Mericle Jones. Joe, a graduate of West Sabine High School, pursued a career as a Construction Electrician. He was a proud Dallas Cowboys fan and enjoyed hunting, fishing, and grilling in his free time. Joe was known for his love of talking on the phone to anyone who would listen and cherished his wife, Tina, and his son, Jesse, whom he affectionately referred to as Who-B.

He will be deeply missed by his wife of almost 36 years, Tina Jones; his sons, Jesse Jones and fiance, Leighann Barrera of Grandbury and Forest Byerly of Lone Star; his brothers, Junious Burnette (Skipper) Jones and wife, Delores, of Bronson, Randy Jones and wife, Stephie, of Pineland, and Tim Jones and wife, Shirley, of Hemphill; his sisters, Bobbie Maldin and husband, Jim, of Humble, Kansas and Brenda (Kitty) Venegas of Fredericksburg; his uncle Marvin Mericle of Arkansas; his grandson, Talan Byerly, and many beloved nieces and nephews.

Joe was preceded in death by his father, Junious Burnette Jones, Sr., his mother, Pauline Mericle, his brother, David Jones, and his sister, Virginia Jones.

Graveside services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Tuesday, June 4, 2024, in Chinquapin Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Cliff Durham officiating.
