Willie Rae Gaudet, 92, of Hemphill, passed away Sunday, March 17, 2024 at Legacies Nursing and Rehab in Hemphill.

Willie Rae was born April 3, 1931 in Bleakwood. She was a resident of Newton before moving to Sabine County in 2005. She was a member of First Baptist Church in Hemphill and a loving housewife and mother.

She is survived by her son, Steve Peel and wife, Vicky, of Kirbyville; daughter, LaWanna Curl and husband, Jerry, also of Kirbyville; grandchildren, Doug Curl and wife, Lora, Michael Curl and wife, Christi, Robert Curl, Nikole Meredith, and Dillon Peel and wife, Kelsey all of Kirbyville, Texas; and six great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her mother and father, D.A and Byela Coker.

Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Monday, March 18, 2024 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Troy Richardson officiating. Visitation will begin one hour prior to service.

Burial will follow services in Mt. Sinai Cemetery with Cheyanne Coker, A. J. Coker, Dwain Stanley, Doug Curl, Michael Curl, Robert Curl and Dillon Peel serving as pallbearers.
