Burl Wesley "Wes" Youngblood Jr., 54, of San Augustine passed away Feb. 18, 2022.

He was born March 13, 1967, to parents Burl and Athalee Youngblood. He attended school at San Augustine and enjoyed selling ice cream during lunch at the intermediate school and assisting his fellow other-abled students. He worked for several years at the Burke Center Center Sheltered Workshops in Center and San Augustine. Singing, dancing, leading the band, and joking around gave him a great deal of pleasure.

He was the light of his sisters' lives and traveled with them all over the Western United States to the beaches, mountains, and deserts of Texas, California, Colorado and Arizona. He visited the Houston and San Diego Zoos and always spent hours admiring the primates, monkeys and gorillas. He loved to travel, see the new sights and was the best co-pilot ever.

He had an infectious smile and wonderful hugs which are profoundly missed by his sisters, Sandee Simmons, Shirley Schier, Reva Cook, Regena Curbow, Sonya Youngblood, his special sister friend, Kathy Brittain, and his special friend, Lorraine Putnam; along with his nieces, nephews and cousins.

His celebration of life was held May 2, at the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home chapel with Bro. Rick Russell officiating. Inurnment followed at Chapel Hill Cemetery near San Augustine.
