Nelda Muirhead, 86, of Beaumont passed away Tuesday, Oct. 31 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.

Nelda was born June 18, 1937 in Apple Springs to Bronson Bailey Read and Vera Beatrice Russell Read. She was a member of Dawndale Baptist Church and had worked for many years as a medical transcriptionist. She loved to crochet and put together jigsaw puzzles. She enjoyed baking pies for her friends and family. Another thing she enjoyed was her monthly get togethers with her old classmates.

Nelda is survived by her sons, Don Muirhead and wife, Kathleen, of Beaumont and Jack Muirhead, also of Beaumont; sister, Freida Smith and husband, Joe, of Pennington; grandchildren, Jack Muirhead, Jr. and wife, Meloni, Kimberly Armas, Amanda Greiser and husband, Tyler, Amber Muirhead, Cara Muirhead, Carly Newton and Jacob Muirhead; and numerous great grandchildren and great great grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, Bobby Muirhead; sons, Karl Muirhead and David Muirhead; and sister, Faye Elkins.

Graveside services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Sunday, Nov. 5 in Halbert Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.
