Howard Gaylon Waller
Howard Gaylon Waller, 84, of Hemphill, passed away Saturday, Sept. 9, 2023 at Baptist Hospital in Beaumont.
Gaylon was born Aug. 18, 1939 in Milam, to Clarence Washington Waller and Leona Bragg Waller. He was a life-long resident of Sabine County and a graduate of Hemphill High School.
Shortly after graduating from high school, he started his career in the automotive field at Hemphill Motor Company where he worked for many years doing what he loved. While there, he worked as a mechanic, parts manager, and shop manager. After the dealership closed, he stayed on. You could count on him being there, always smiling, to help with all your automotive issues and inspections. His favorite things to work on were old tractors and old trucks.
Gaylon is survived by his daughter, Drenda Tate of Lumberton; brother, Martin Dale Waller of Spirit Lake, Idaho; sisterin- law, Donna Welch and husband, Albert, of Pineland; brother-in-law, Larry Parrie and wife, Carla, of Negreet, Louisian; grandsons, Eric Brackin and Natalie of Lumberton, Scott Brackin and wife, Emily, of Lumberton, Kevin Brackin and Jessica of Taylor and Michael Tate of Lumberton; and great grandchildren Gavin, Naomi, Rachel, Saylor, Kate, Lauren, Bentley and Evelyn.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Linda Waller; son-inlaw, Paul Tate; great grandson, Carter Joseph Brackin; and sister-in-law, Diane Waller. Funeral services will begin at 2:00 p.m. Thursday, Sept. 14 in Starr Funeral Home Chapel, 510 Starr Street, Hemphill, Texas with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.
Visitation will be held prior to service from 12:00 noon until service time.
Burial will follow services in King Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home.
