Joe Howard Retherford, 50, of Bronson, Texas passed away on Saturday, May 27, 2023 at his residence.

He was born on August 18, 1972 in Kirbyville, to Oscar Retherford and Margie Joyce Chappell. He worked at Tysons as a processor. Joe enjoyed fishing and hunting.

He is survived by his mother, Margie Joyce Chappell of Bronson, Texas; wife, Helen Johnston of Bronson, Texas; Son, Ricky McSwain; daughter, Marissa Nicole Retherford; brothers, James Retherford, Jackie Retherford, and Oscar ‘Shorty” Lloyd Retherford; sisters, Cindy Dorn, Joyce Brown and Joanna Moody.

He was preceded in death by his father, Oscar Retherford. Graveside services will begin at 10:00 a.m. on Monday, May 29, 2023 at Brookeland Cemetery in Brookeland, Texas with Bro. Patrick Jacks officiating. His family will serve as pallbearers.
