Alfred Gene Sowell
Alfred Gene Sowell, 74, passed away Monday, May 9, 2022, at CHI St. Luke's Medical Center in Lufkin.
He was born Sept. 16, 1947, in Angelina County, to parents, James Alfred and Imogene (Shatto) Sowell. He was a former longtime Houston area resident and had lived in San Augustine County for the past several years. He worked several years as a heating and air conditioning technician.
He enjoyed outdoor activities such as fishing, hunting, gardening and especially mowing. He was member of Crossroads Christian Center Church and was a graduate of Diboll High School.
His survivors include his wife, Joy Nell Parker Sowell of San Augustine County; a sister, Linda Kay Tolly of Diboll; an aunt, Georgia Ann Miller of El Paso; sisters-in-law, Evelyn Miller and husband, Ken of Hockley, and Sherry Lockley of New Braunfels; and a host of nieces and nephews.
He was preceded in death by his parents, James Alfred and Imogene Sowell; his brother, Lee Roy Sowell; a sister, Mary Ann McBride; parents-in-law, J.W. and Wilma Parker; and brother-in-law, John Wesley Parker.
Services were held Thursday, May 12, at the Wyman Roberts Funeral Home Chapel, San Augustine, with Pastor Tim Swanson officiating. Interment followed at the Sowell Cemetery.
