Jimmy Waynfild Childress
Jimmy Waynfild Childress, 76, of Hemphill, passed away Wednesday, November 30, in Sabine County Hospital.
He was born September 30, 1946 in Texon, to Clinton Haskell Childress and Vlasta Rose Jurcik Childress. He served his country as a member of the United States Marine Corp serving in Vietnam. After serving in the military, he worked for many years in the oil and gas industry as a drilling operations manager. He resided in Ft. Stockton, before moving to the Toledo Bend lake area 20 years ago.
He was a member of East Mayfield Baptist Church and also a member and Past Master of Littleton Fowler Masonic Lodge #305. His sense of duty was a big part of his life.
He is survived by his wife of 54 years, Judy Ann Childress of Hemphill; sons, Jimmy Dee Childress and wife, Rositsa, of Willis and William Scott Childress and wife, Christa, of Huntsville; daughter, Larinda Mae Swenson and husband, Dwayne, of Clifton; sister, Jackie Childress Teague; five granddaughters and two grandsons.
Funeral services were held Dec. 5 in Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Gene Lee officiating.
Burial services and military honors are pending in Houston National Cemetery, 10410 Veterans Memorial Dr, Houston, TX 77038.
