Bille Mae Colwell
Billie Mae Colwell, 99, of Broaddus passed away Oct. 24, at her residence.
She was born July 23, 1923, in New Summerfield. She and her husband John D. Colwell moved to Broaddus in 1951 when Mr. Colwell became superintendent of schools. She worked in various capacities with the school district and became Broaddus ISD superintendent in 1982 upon her husband's retirement. She served in this role until 1987. She was a faithful member of First Baptist Church as well as the Order of the Eastern Star, in addition to helping and serving her community in a variety of ways.
She was preceded in death by her devoted husband, John D. Colwell, in 2005.
She leaves behind her two daughters and their families: Virginia (Ginger) Kott and son-in-law, Randy Kott, and Billie Lynne Davis and son-in-law, Larry Davis; grandchildren, Lisa Kott Shults and husband Toby Shults, John Colwell Kott and wife Chandee Kott, Hollie Lynne Davis, and Shane Edward Davis and wife Maria Davis; great-grandchildren, Peyton Shults, Parker Shults, Danielle Asbjornson and husband Christian Asbjornson, Paxton Shults, Chloe Capps, Jordan Kott, Julie Kott, Nikaila Davis, and Aurora Davis; and great-great-granddaughter, Eleanor Asbjornson.
Special thanks goes out to caregiver supervisor Davana Sanders; caregivers Pamela Marshall, Patricia King, Cissy Wright, Hollie Davis, Robert Williams, Dorothy Dubose, and many others who have helped along the way. Billie loved all of you.

Funeral services were held Oct. 28, at First Baptist Church of Broaddus with Bro. Wayne Barth and Bro. Don Lofton officiating. Committal service and interment followed at Liberty Hill Memorial Garden, located on Hwy. 147 North in San Augustine.
