WSISD discusses Tax Rate

On Tuesday, August 29th, the WSISD held a Public Meeting and Regular Meeting at the West Sabine Administration Building in Pineland. No public showed for any discussion so the meeting proceeded as if so with discussion on budget and proposed tax rate for the 2023-2024 school year.

Hornets douse Dragons: 50-45

The Shelbyville Dragons, fresh off a season opening win over Alto, traveled to Hemphill Friday night to face the Hemphill Hornets. The Dragons, with 2:25 left in the 1st Quarter, deep in Hornet territory, and going for it on 4th down, struck first taking a 7-0 lead.

HISD School Board tackles budget

Hemphill ISD met in regular season on Tuesday, August 29, 2023 at 6:00 pm in the HISD Administration Office. Board members present were Kim Scales, Carl Beall Jr. Andrea Procella-Heslip, Tammie Cox, Marty Griffin and Dale Wilkerson, Gary Parks was absent.

Anthony White leads the Hornets to the endzone, as time expires at the half, to close within one score of the San Augustine Wolves. Both teams diplayed tremendous potential on offense and deffense. These two local teams both look forward to great seasons as they develope throughout the year.

The Lady Hornets added another win to their record last Friday, Aug. 25. The girls in green took the first set 25-21, but fell short the second round losing 26-28. In spite of this, the Hornets buckled down and championed the next two sets winning 26-24 and then 25--

2023 Alumni Game ...

Hemphill Volleyball had a great time taking on the alumni. They got the best of us last year and made us work for it this year. Was good to get the upper hand on them this year. We are excited to see you ladies again next year. Thank you alumni for coming out and helping us get better.

Boat Captains needed...

The Hemphill Hornet Bass Club is about to start it’s 2023 – 2024 fishing season and needs a few more boat captains to take these young anglers out to compete in their tournaments. You don’t have to be a parent of one of the students fishing to be able to be a boat captain.

Tiger Nation...

Friday, Aug. 4, Junior High and High school students met at the Pineland Square to spend their morning in service to their community. Service projects were worked on all around the community as athletes, cheerleaders, band, twirlers and FFA members took time to give back to their hometown.
