Thursday morning, Sabine County Veterans Service Officer Shorty Warren joined members of the Hemphill and 6 Mile Garden Clubs on location of the plaque marking the 'Blue Star Memorial Highway' placing a wreath in recognition of Memorial Day.

1st Week of Summer Well, it is 3:29 pm on a weekday and I should be straightening the jumble of papers and hair bows and empty diet coke bottles and unicorn erasers on my desk. Instead, I am scurrying around our home in preparation for a visit from our oldest daughter and her daughter.

My great grand daughter, Addy, walked over to me and whispered something. I didn’t understand. So, I asked her to repeat it. The last time she was here, she’d admired a small, pink pillow. When she asked me for it, I gave it to her. Now, her mom sat across the room.

My First Sermon

I have told “my first sermon” story for my years now, but realized last week that I had almost forgotten my real “first sermon”.. I didn’t preach it at Central Baptist Church in 1950 (a I have claimed) but preached it at the Mill Pond in Shelbyville, Texas. I had the year right but not the place.
