Jeffery Levi Harper was born on May 19, 1964, to Charlsie “Rae” and Ray Lee Harper. A proud graduate of Hemphill High School, Jeff was known early in life for his adventurous, mischievous spirit, a spark that shaped the man he would become. His love for the water and his drive to explore the world led him to enlist in the United States Navy at nineteen.

After completing his service, Jeff returned to South Texas to “settle down,” though his curiosity and zest fo never faded. A true connoisseur of food, he loved to cook could often be found in the kitchen perfecting a recipe dish he discovered abroad or something he saw on the coo channel. His immense love of learning was unmistakable pecially to anyone brave enough to challenge him in a gam Trivial Pursuit.
On a date at a bookstore, Jeff met the love of his Methena. Their connection was immediate and deep, an gether they shared twentyone years of marriage. These among the happiest years of Jeff’s life, as he had finally f a partner who matched his spirit, his humor, and his heart. T love was steady, joyful, and unwavering. He is survived by his beloved wife, Methena; his siblings: David and wife Deborah Harper, Jessica and husband Jack Burnett, Dierdra “Dede” and husband Richard Osborn, and Craig and wife LeAnn Peden. He is also survived by an unbelievable number of nieces and nephews, all of whom will remember him for his wild stories, his playful spirit, and his tendency to let them get away with just about anything.
A gathering of Mr. Harper's family and friends will begin 9:00 a.m. with his memorial service to follow at 10:00 a.m., Friday, June 19, 2026, at Broussard’s, 505 North 12th Street, Beaumont. His cremation arrangements were handled through Broussard’s Crematorium.
