Allen Stoner Mooney, 91, passed away on August 3, 2025, in Hemphill. A longtime resident of Sabine County, Allen lived a full and meaningful life rooted in simplicity, nature, and family.

Born on May 12, 1934, in Woodville, to Jeff Mooney and Johnny Lou Blair Mooney, Allen grew up with a deep appreciation for the outdoors that would shape both his personal and professional life. He earned his bachelor's degree from Stephen F. Austin State University and went on to dedicate many years to his career as a forester. His work reflected his enduring connection to the land and his respect for the natural world.

For over six decades, Allen made his home in Sabine County—a place he lovingly referred to as 'Paradise.' It was here that he found peace among the trees and waters he cherished so deeply. An avid fisherman and hunter, Allen spent countless hours immersed in the wilderness he knew so well. Whether casting a line or tracking game through the woods, he found joy and purpose in these pursuits.

Allen was also known for his gift of storytelling. Those who spent time with him were often treated to tales that blended humor, wisdom, and vivid recollections of days gone by. His stories were more than entertainment—they were a way of connecting generations and preserving memories.

He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Carmen Mooney, and their daughter, Dora Torseth.

Allen is survived by his grandchildren: John Torseth and wife, Jennifer; Andrea Flores, and Bianca Torseth. He also leaves behind great-grandchildren Ella, Jill, and David.

Graveside Services will be held on August 8, 2025, at 09:00 AM at Magnolia Cemetery in Woodville, Texas under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Floyd Wright officiating.
