James Ricky Arney, 75, of Hemphill, passed away Wednesday, April 10, 2024 at Harbor Hospice House in Jasper. Ricky was born October 25, 1948 in Dallas, to James Rodney Arney and Madge Elise Tyer Arney. He had been a resident of Sabine County since 1973, having previously resided in Carthage. He had worked as a Pipeliner for many years and was a member of Pipeliner's Union 798. He was also a member of the Masonic Lodge.

Ricky is survived by his wife, Gaynell Arney of Hemphill; sons, James Rodney Arney, II and wife, Juanita, of Hemphill and Matthew Keith Arney, also of Hemphill; daughter, Stephanie Lea Arney of White Oak; brother, Steve Arney and wife, Doris, of Hemphill; and seven grandchildren.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James and Madge Arney and brothers, Michael Ervin Arney and Thomas Keith Arney.

Graveside services were held Sunday, April 14, 2024 in Yellowpine Cemetery under the direction of Starr Funeral Home with Bro. Charles Stephens and Bro. Gordon Simmons officiating.
