Commissioners Court enacts Burn Ban for Sabine County

Effective 9:35 a.m. Sabine County is under BURN BAN

 

It's been a busy week for local volunteer fire departments in Sabine County. It's the hope of the fire chiefs and the Commissioners Court that entering a burn ban will protect the county from some of the dangers of burning in this excessive drought and heat.

Two structure fires so far this week with both being total losses. Below is information shared by the firefighting agencies via their Facebook pages.

Reported Structure Fire.

297 Bragg Dr. Shamrock Shores.

Dispatched # 704 Tanker and, along with 4 Firefighters

Arrive Scene- 4-35pm.

House fully envolved, flames aprox 30'. 4 other structures in danger.

Agencies Responding: Shamrock Shores VFD, Hemphill VFD, Pendleton VFD, Pineland VFD, Bronson VFD, Sabine Ambulance Serv. and Deep East Texas Electric Coop

4-45pm 2 Structures on South side of Fire out of danger. Move to stop fire from endangering structures to the north. Pendleton Harbor attacks Fire on main structure. Hemphill arrives with more Tankers and Brush Truck. One Fire Fighter overcome by heat called Sabine Ambulance Serv. Neighbor reported that the structures to the south of main Fire were being threatened by another brush fire. One more Fire Fighter overcome by heat.

6-00pm Fire under control begin "mop-up. Both down Fire Fighters back in Service.

7-00 pm Finish Mop-up and clear scene

7-30pm Back in Service

Shamrock Shores VFD wishes to thank all Depts and Responders that contributed to fighting this fire. Conditions were terrible the Heat was intense.

This morning (July 22) PHVFD responded to a report of a possible mobile home/ RV fire in the Busby Point community off of S Bayou RD. Upon arrival confirmed of a lake house fully engulfed and threatening other homes. Had assistance from Hemphill VFD along with Shammrock Shores VFD. Fire was quickly contained and extinguished. PHVFD responded with Engine 6, tanker 605, Tanker 606, along with 9 firefighters.
