Atmosphere. That’s the word that continues to come to mind when describing the new speak easy joint in town. This prohibition throw back has it in bucketloads. Friday afternoon they opened to a great reception from patrons and a full house, despite the Pine Cone Bowl being the hottest ticket in town. Pool tables, tvs, board games and a Tuesday night poker game are sure to be big draws for Sabine County. The fully stocked bar and signature cocktails (we tried the Bees Knees, the Ramos Gin Fizz and the Mary Pinkford) definitely contribute to the Gatsby vibes that the decor and lighting promote. And if you are a sucker for bar food like we are, you must try the boudin egg rolls. They hit the spot for a satisfying snack before we hopped over to the game. The Speak Easy Lounge is open from 3-midnight on Tuesday, Thursday, Friday and Saturday.
