The Great Sam Rayburn Cardboard Boat Regatta

The first Great Sam Rayburn Cardboard Boat Regatta is set for Saturday September 3rd at the Jackson Hill Park swimming area. It's not to late to build your boat and come out to have some fun or just come out to cheer your favorite team to victory. The boats will be on display and the crowd will choose the best in show before the racing begins at 12:00 noon. There will be Smoked Brisket for sale by the sandwich and by the pound, hot dogs, shave ice, cold drinks, a watermelon eating contest and live music. Everyone in attendance will be given a ticket to vote for their favorite boat and a door prize drawing for 2 lbs of Meat Empire Award Winning Brisket for your Labor Day Dinner. Local Boat Sponsors include; The San Augustine Chamber, Debbie and Dean Perkins, Terry and Donald Huron, Real Graphics Lufkin, Cross Bait Company, Ross Motor Sorts Lufkin, Virgil Segrest, Scarber Automotive of Broaddus, CMC Recycling Lufkin, Texas Food Products Nacogdoches, Conn's Appliances Lufkin, Hardware on the Square, The Lakes Insurance, Care and Share San Augustine and Ben E Keith Foods. Entry fee is $20 and access to the event is $5 per vehicle. Winners will receive cash awards for best in show and race winners.
