Editor’s Note:Jacee Ebarb has authorized the Sabine County Reporter to announce his candidacy for Sabine County Clerk. As a participant in the newspaper’s Political Calendar, following is a statement issued by Ebarb.
My name is Jacee Ebarb. I am a lifelong resident of Sabine County and have proudly called it home for the past 30 years. I am seeking office to be your next Sabine County Clerk in the March 3 primary election.
On December 5, 2025, after six years and nine months of service, I resigned from my position in the County Clerk’s Office as Chief Deputy and Election Deputy to pursue the opportunity to run for this office.
During my time in the Clerk’s Office, I gained hands-on experience in nearly every aspect of the job. I began with daily transactions such as filing land records, issuing vital statistics records, and assisting customers in locating deeds and other important documents. From there, I learned to assist the court coordinator with probate, guardianship, and misdemeanor court, eventually stepping into the role of court coordinator myself.
I later learned the elections process and became the elections deputy, where I registered voters, helped prepare for elections, and worked to ensure that each election ran as smoothly and efficiently as possible.
In addition to hands-on experience, I have attended probate and guardianship conferences as well as elections conferences to further my education to stay current on laws, procedures, and best practices. I have truly learned this office from the ground up. I know what works and what needs changed to benefit the public.
If elected, my first priority will be creating a more accessible County Clerk’s Office. The current office hours are not convenient for many residents. I believe the office should be open from 8:00 a.m. to 4:00 p.m., without closing for lunch, and available for all transactions during that time—even if that means helping a last-minute customer at 3:59 p.m. The Clerk’s Office should work for the people it serves.
Along with more accessible hours, I want to be a knowledgable clerk. I believe it is important to know every role within the office and to work alongside the employees. Being knowledgeable in all areas ensures that when you leave the Clerk’s Office, you have what you need—or at the very least, clear guidance in the right direction.
My second priority will be service. Every person who walks through the doors of the office deserves to be treated with respect, professionalism and greeted by a warm, welcoming face. Your experience should be personal, and you should feel confident that your business matters and is handled with care.
I am running because I care deeply about this county, the people who live here and the responsibilities of this office. I bring experience, dedication, and a commitment to serving Sabine County.
I would be honored to earn your trust and your vote! Thank you!
