TAME’s travelling Trailblazer is a 40-foot exhibit trailer that houses a variety of engineering and science exhibits targeted at students in grades 3 through 8. The Trailblazer is the only interactive science and engineering museum – on – wheels in Texas, and it’s coming to the J.R. Huffman Public Library in Hemphill on Monday, July 25, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. The Trailblazer has 5 exhibit areas on board, each with several hands-on activities and STEM career information on aerodynamics, biotechnology, energy, weather, and space. There are 20 different activities for the kids to interact with and learn from.

The Texas Alliance for Minorities in Engineering (TAME) is a 501©(3) non-profit organization founded in 1976 that helps prepare Texas students for careers in science, technology, engineering, and math (STEM) by providing K-12 students, parents, and teachers with STEM-related programs and resources.

TAME is based out of the state office in Austin, and is it’s own individual organization, but is supported by many partners, sponsors, and organizations. Their web site is www.tame.org/partners.

In 2018, Tocker Foundation (a TAME partner) has sponsored 36 summer library visits to rural (defined as libraries who serve fewer than 12,000 people in their service area) libraries across Texas.
