Hemphill High School announces top ten graduates

Hemphill ISD along with t h e administration and teachers of Hemphill High School is pleased to announce the top ten graduates for the Class of 2022.

Earning Valedictorian with top scores is Dane Bundy. He is the son of Benn Bundy and Dana Gordy Bundy. Grandparents are Eva Lunsford and Donald Lunsford and Sally and Howard Bundy. Dane says, “My favorite high school memories are form Mrs. Farrel’s classes.” His future plans include attending Wheaton College to get a degree in International Relations and Global Studies and eventually get his Masters.

Salutatorian honors go to Alex Stepp. He is the son of Anje Charme and the grandson of Sandy Stepp and Jerry Stepp. He stated, “My favorite memories from school was literally every memory with my friends. But my favorite memory is when we went on our senior trip to Schlitterbahn and Dave and Busters and I hung out with Dane and Cade and Alex and Bret and Javier. I had a fun time. After school I am going to attend Texas A&M to pursue engineering on my free tuition.”

Samantha “Sam” Allman is the next top honor graduate. She is the daughter of Shane and Christy Allman and the grandaughter of George and Betsy Cox of Milam and Suzanne Owens of San Antonio. “My favorite memory in school was teaching my class how to Indian leg wrestle.” Sam’s future plans include attending Texas A&M to study Visualization under the college of Architecture and pursue a career in graphic design.

Cade Kittman is next and he is the son of Holly Ebarb and Patrick Kittman. His grandparents are Richard and Alissa Dyson Wally and Martha Kittman. His favorite memories include the basketball bus rides home. Cade plans to attend A&M for software engineering.

Fifth in his class, Alex Freeman, is the son of Cara Westbrook and Michael Freeman, and the grandson of Ed Corley and Susan King, “My favorite memory of school is probably winning the pine cone bowl senior year, and my future plans are to attend Texas State University for a Bachelor of Fine Arts, and a minor is psychology.

Lance Jackson is sixth in his class. He is the son of Jeremy and Toccara Jackson and the grandson of Johnny Robert Jackson and Carol Jackson. His favorite memory of school is graduating. He plans to spend his time fishing and living the simple life, guided by God.

Next up is Alyssa Ramsey, daughter of Susana Lopez. Alyssa’s favorite memories of school include every field trip or UIL adventure. In the future, she plans to pursue a career in nursing and attend Panola College.

Alaina Dickerson is ranked eighth and is the daughter of Robin and Billy Dickerson and the grandaughter of Kaye Powell. Her favorite memories include every One Act Play event from practice to performance. In the fall, Alaina plansto attend Panola college to get a Bachelor of Science in Nursing to become a neonatal nurse

Next is Alexia Wynne, daughter of Cody Wynne and Amber Addison. Her grandparents are Tammy Crane and Jeff Crane. Her favorite memory of high school is when someone accidentally let a stray dog into the school and it ran around. Alexia plans to attend Stephen F. Austin State University and major in education to later become an elementary teacher.

Roundig out the top ten is DeMarkez Holman. He is the son of DeQuahna Taylor & Dekova Hubbard and the grandson of Mozell Dupree & JW Dupree. “My favorite memory is definitely when I got my first in-game dunk in basketball.” He plans to attend UT Tyler and major in health studies.
