Court discusses grants
Sabine County Commissioners Court held it regular meeting on Monday, May 23. After opening the meeting with a prayer and pledge of allegiance, minutes of the last regular and special meetings were accepted. There were no Line-Item transfers or Budget Amendments to consider; then, all of the departmental reports were accepted.
Discussion on the contract for Professional Services with DETCOG regarding NTIA grant revealed that DETCOG accepted changes made by Atty. Bobby Neal, signed and returned contract back to the court where it was then accepted, so the broadband project may proceed.
Discussion on the 2022 Sabine County Resolution for Indigent Defense Grant Program explained that the County participates in this grant yearly, and it is used to help cover legal fees for the administering of funds for the indigent. It was agreed to enter into this grant again this year.
Discussion on resolution for award of professional services for the 2022 Texas Community Block Grant FAST Fund application and project implementation resulted in a vote to not pursue this grant for at least two years. Seems Sabine County has been recently active in this grant and would most likely not be successful even if attempted.
Discussion then turned to abandoning part of Bowie Street (296 l.f.) between Derugely Street and Lamar Street, Pct 3. No action was taken at this time.
Action to pay Accounts and Salaries was passed.
